AMBOSafe - Violence against staff in the security sector
Project date range: 01.09.2020 – 31.08.2022
Affiliated partners: Bavarian Red Cross, University of Applied Sciences (Hessische Hochschule für Polizei und Verwaltung)
Description
Violence against staff of police and emergency medical services has gained increasing attention in media, politics, and practice. Research existing in Germany is often limited to specific aspects of this phenomenon, e.g. taking into account the perspective of victims without carrying out further situational analysis.
The current study aims to review and broaden our knowledge about violence against staff in the security sector. By examining basic conditions, involved actors, reasons and interaction dynamics, strategies to avoid escalations can be identified and safety can be increased. This is why conflicting perspectives of both sides will be taken into account.
Additionally, the study widens the focus to include violence against a broad range of norm enforcing or helping professions beyond the police and emergency medical services.
The project is a cooperation conducted together with the Bavarian Red Cross and the University of Applied Sciences (Hessische Hochschule für Polizei und Verwaltung). The project is funded by Federal Government’s “Research for civil security 2012-2017” (“Anwender - Innovativ: Forschung für die zivile Sicherheit II”) framework programme of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
